[Jewish Synagogue]

The great Hebrew synagogue in Duke's place was on Monday night broken open by persons as yet unknown; they took from the Ark the manuscripts of the "Laws of Moses," which were richly ornamented with massive silver rollers and bells; with the silver they were made off, but the manuscripts, which were written on parchment, they tore and cut in several parts, scattering them about the ground. The great loss consists in the manuscripts, which cannot be replaced.
