(No.1824, Sunday, March 13, 1831)

[Calico Repeal Bill]

Lord AUCKLAND moved the second reading of the Calico Duty Repeal bill. He proposed that it should be read a third time on Monday, urging dispatch upon their lordships, as, in the districts likely to be affected by the removal of this most impolitic and vexatious tax, all business was suspended, leaving upwards of 200,000 workmen unemployed until the decision of their lordships should be made. The bill was accordingly read a second time, and ordered to be read a third time on Monday.
