Elliston was engaged one night to perform Hamlet at the Warrington Theatre. Previous to the commencement of the performance he came forward, and, addressing the audience, informed them that in case the Birmingham Mail arrived before the end of the play he must leave the part unfinished; but that, in that case, there was a gentleman in the house who would conclude it to their entire satisfaction.
