[French King]

The present King of the French was walking many years ago in a nursery-ground at Twickenham, and was directing the attention of a companion to a luxuriantly loaded apricot-tree, when the head gardener came up and offered the Duke some remarkably fine Orleans plums. "I thank you, Sir," replied the Duke, "I have already had a taste of that bitter fruit, and no longer relish it."
