My interests include:
George PETERS, my 6 x great grandfather, variously a Director, Deputy Governor and Governor of Bank of England between 1766-1789; a Russia Merchant; a 'freeman' of the Russia Company from 1743 onwards; a long standing friend of Jonas Hanway and, like him, a philanthropist.
George Peters married Sarah [née JAGER] at the British Chaplaincy at St. Petersburg on Febuary 25, 1755 and they both came to London shortly afterwards living at 32, Old Bethlem, very close to where Liverpool Street rail station is nowadays.
Henry PETERS [1762-1827] George's son, a London banker and owner of Betchworth Castle, Surrey, between 1798 and 1841. He married Charlotte Mary [née MORRISON].
