Matricide and Suicide

On Tuesday, the body of a female was found in the New River, near Cheshunt, which proved to be that of Mrs. Worrell, a widow lady, upwards of 70 years of age, who resided at Hoddesdon. It being ascertained that the deceased had gone out with her daughter on Monday evening, and that neither had returned, the river was dragged, and the body of the daughter was found near Wormley. An inquest has been held on the bodies, and from the evidence of the servant who lived with them, there is no doubt that the daughter first drowned her mother and then herself, being at the time labouring under an aberration of mind.
