Ashton's Charity

Ashton's Charity, for the relief of poor clergymen and widows of clergymen, arises from a bequest similar to the last,[Bishop Porteus's Annual Donations to Poor Clergyman] for the benefit of 30 poor clergymen's widows. At present this is a Chancery trust; the receiver appointed is J. Sewell, Esq., Gresham House, Broad Street, and a distribution is only made occasionally amongst the applicants selected, of about £10 to each.
