This prison has been lately erected to confine those unfortunate persons who would otherwise have been incarcerated with felons of every description within the walls of Newgate. This will be a great advantage. It is erected on the site of the Peacock Brewhouse. The first stone was laid in 1813. It is calculated to hold 400 prisoners.
